Goddamn Quarter-Century - Careful Man

At Bergamot Alley

I was just going to get some food

Yes it was past noon and I was hungry, I had to move my car or I would yet again be faced with a 40 dollar ticket...parking is brutal and it is holiday time and no mercy from the meter man...bad meter man, bad....
So OI decide to pop in to my next door go to bar, restaurant Bergamot Alley, great food and even better beverages. My favorite beer was not on tap so I opted for a fantastic bubbly Rose, of course the name is now long lost. The nice couple next to me said hellos and introduced them self, Todd and Karen.Sweet, local to the area. We were talking for a bit, it so happens that they actually had bought two art pieces of mine a year ago. How nice, and what a small world! I was feeling quite honored as well....
We go on to chat about their professions, lo and behold Todd works in biotech clinical trials

Who Knew

I said wheeheee, how apropos, I am learning about this quite a lot right now, and we had a fun talk about it. I learned that there is a very rare disease called Batten disease, quite scary and that is one that they are working on a remedy for right now.   Batten disease is an extremely rare and fatal autosomal recessive neurodegenerative disorder that begins in childhood. It is the most common form of a group of disorders called the neuronal ceroid lipofuscinoses....how tragic. it makes me ever so happy that my children are so healthy all they ever have to deal with is indeed a common cold. So thank you Todd for working in the field of research, and hopefully finding a cure very soon...Cheers to him and all in that field, we thank you!
